- STEP 1: It acts in the early stages of solar lentigo and prevents the risk of a rebound effect. The main goal of this solution is to control tyrosinase activity to prevent melanin overproduction. Tyrosinase is the enzyme that catalyzes the production of melanin.
Therefore, it is mainly composed of tyrosinase-inhibitors: Tranexamic Acid, Azelaic Acid, Resorcinol, among other ingredients.
Tranexamic Acid inhibits UV-induced plasmin activity in keratinocytes – primary cell in the epidermis. This effect ultimately leads to a reduction of arachidonic acid and prostaglandin production, which are tyrosinase stimulators. Hence, decreasing tyrosinase activity. It lightens the skin and prevents future hyperpigmentation.
Azelaic Acid has many benefits and can be used to treat different skin alterations. Among them, it is a good free radical scavenger, which means that it has antioxidant properties, and has proven to lighten hyperpigmentation.
